Training for Intervention ProcedureS

Cheryl A. Cowan
Certified TIPS® Trainer, Woodbury, CT

Having held TIPS® server certification since 2005, I completed my first TIPS® trainer class, earning my certification as a trainer, in December of 2011 and started training in January of 2012. Having researched several different alcohol awareness programs, I decided that TIPS® was the most comprehensive and accepted program being offered. I earned my trainer certification to teach other people in the industry how to prevent the problems I've seen when selling alcohol.

I have spent over fifteen years in the hospitality industy in and around the Waterbury, CT area, as a server in places as varied as roadside diners to fine dining establishments, both in plated and buffet environments, and as a bartender in those same environments, plus mixing drinks in a nightclub setting. I have worked as a banquet supervisor in a resort and as the training manager for a large, fine-dining establishment. I am currently working on a book on the history of liquors and bartending.
